Are you concerned about your growing family’s impact on the planet?

Come along to our Sustainable Parenting event on Thursday 8 August 2019 and learn how to reduce your family’s waste and plastic use with handy tips and tricks from zero-waste author and blogger, Erin Rhoads.

Erin will cover everything from nappies, toys, clothing, to feeding and kids parties.

Councillor and Chair of the Maroondah Environment Advisory Committee Marijke Graham said that in a year the average Maroondah household produced 451kg of waste, which was sent to landfill.

But there are ways to live a modern life with less waste.

“Council has undertaken research and is considering new ways for managing waste in the future that will reduce our reliance on landfill. In the meantime, we can all benefit from learning and sharing different methods to living with less waste,” Cr Marijke said.

Erin Rhoads went from eating plastic-packaged takeaway while shopping online for fast fashion, to becoming one of Australia’s most popular eco-bloggers. Erin knows that small changes can have a big impact.

Through her pursuit to live plastic-free and zero-waste, the author of zero-waste lifestyle book Waste Not has learnt to eat real food, discovered new skills, cut down her exposure to harmful chemicals and simplified her life – all while saving money.

In this Sustainable Parenting workshop, Erin will share everything she’s learnt from her own funny and inspiring journey to living with less waste.

Erin is also a prominent commentator on zero-waste living and has been featured on BBC World, The Project, The Australian Women’s Weekly, Sunrise, The Age and many more.

The Sustainable Parenting: Top tips from a Zero Waste event is on Thursday 8 August 2019, from 6 to 7.30pm, at Maroondah Federation Estate, 32 Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood.
