Cr Jennifer Alden will officially launch the 2019 Write on the Fringe Festival and open the ninth Co.Lab exhibition this Friday evening at the Bendigo Library.

Now in its sixth year, Write on the Fringe runs from August 2 to 10 as an accompaniment to the Bendigo Writers Festival, and features workshops and performance, artistic and literary installations.

Co.Lab began in 2014 as an opportunity for visual artists and writers to collaborate and have their work exhibited alongside each other. This year’s Co.Lab features 24 teams with work including poetry, songs and fiction, painting, drawing, photography and installations.

Volumes six and seven of the cARTel Journal project will be unveiled. These will celebrate the work of painters, poets, musicians, photographers and many more creative artists from our region, as well as showcase the work of students and teachers.

On Friday August 9, YoBendigo is supporting a song-writing workshop with Sarah McLeod, who is the creative force behind ARIA award winning and platinum-selling rock band The Superjesus.

Saturday August 10 is dedicated to family fun, with giant knitting and a special performance for families at 10.30am. There will be plenty of activities to entertain the kids, including badge-making, library bag-making and face-painting.

Outside of the library, activities include the ‘Write Unto Art', an art trail extending from Bendigo to Heathcote and in Exhibit B there is “The Royal Books We Love”, an exhibition of work by artists aged between four and 10 years old.

Write on the Fringe is an initiative of the City of Greater Bendigo, Goldfields Library Corporation and BendArts.
