Revitalisation of Breakout Creek wetlands

Announcement of the joint Federal and State Government funding commitment of $4 million.

We welcome the announcement of the joint Federal and State Government funding commitment of $4 million to continue the revitalisation of the wetlands at Breakout Creek, River Torrens in the City of Charles Sturt and City of West Torrens.

We have wetlands across Charles Sturt, and they play an extremely important role in the health of the river ecosystem. Wetlands minimise pollution, protect native species and habitats and deliver benefits to the local community, including greener spaces. The investment in Breakout Creek and the River Torrens will help to further establish the area as a high-value environmental and recreational destination.

The project supports Stage 3 of the Breakout Creek concept plan in collaboration with the State Government's Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board and SA Water.
