Ararat Rural City Council has kids covered these school holidays

From magic shows and instrument making to art and amazing circus feats, the Ararat Town Hall, Ararat Regional Library and Ararat Gallery TAMA has your children covered these school holidays.

Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said the Town Hall was holding two family-friendly shows, the library three activities and the Gallery a drop-in art activity during the July school holidays, which start this Friday.

Dr Harrison said the Gallery activity and all three library events are free with the Town Hall shows at the very reasonable price of $12 per ticket for everyone.

On Wednesday 3 July, the Ararat Town Hall will host Children are Stinky, an interactive circus show that encourages children to get up on stage and test their abilities. Children are Stinky challenges kids to prove themselves against two circus performers, resulting in wonderful interaction and an audience of proud kids and parents.

The Town Hall will then hit the road in the second week of the holidays, taking Trinket the Robot to the Willaura Hall on Wednesday 10 July. Trinket the Robot is a delightful puppet show telling the story of a little robot who longs to be real. Trinket has the ability to have feelings like a human and the audience helps him learn about the world, but is he ready for what it means to be real?

Ararat Gallery TAMA will run a drop-in art activity for the two weeks of the holidays, that will see children make three-dimensional objects from coloured paper to add to a display of similar objects that was started during Education Week.

The Ararat Regional Library will host three free activities during the holidays. On Wednesday July 3 children can drop in between 11am and 2pm to a pan flute craft station where they can make their own musical instrument, teaching them about science, engineering, art and maths.

As part of NAIDOC Week, children can make a scratch board boomerang on Wednesday July 10 between 11am and 2pm.

And on Friday July 12, children can watch a magic show and take part in a magic workshop with Duck Cameron from 2pm-3pm. The workshop will provide a rare glimpse behind the smoke and mirrors, teaching some fun magic suitable for ages 5 to 12.

On July 3, families have a whole day of activities to take part in – you can attend the show at the Ararat Town Hall then walk down to the library for the flute craft station.
