Program delivers for sporting groups

The 2018 Go Clubs Annual Report, presented today at Council’s Ordinary Meeting, noted the program had increased to 245 registered members, including the addition of six new sporting disciplines.

Go Clubs also helped to deliver several key events, including Big Serve, an eight-week indigenous tennis program that culminated in a three-day camp.

Through Go Clubs, Council was also able to attract funding through the Game On Queensland grant to deliver a 3x3 basketball tournament in support of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Events held in Cairns.

The Regional Tennis Strategy, a collaboration between Go Clubs and Tennis Queensland, has been developed to provide a road map for the future of tennis in the region.

Cairns was selected as one of the first Local Government Associations to receive such a strategy based on the strength of the clubs’ relationship with Council.

Go Clubs has also been successful in supporting clubs to secure funding through grant identification applications and strategic planning.
