Juniors to take a swing at Roma Outback Masters...

GOLF: Young putters won't be missing out when the Outback Queensland Masters rolls into town on Monday.

The tournament is offering junior clinics at the event and is welcoming all young people, from first-timers to those with more experience.

The junior clinics are aimed at providing young people the opportunity to learn from a skilled PGA professional.

"We are encouraging juniors to participate in the clinics at each location,” certified PGA professional and clinic mentor Darren Weatherall said.

"We look forward to bringing this opportunity for young people in outback Queensland.

"It's a great way for young people, probably best for eight years and over, to get first-hand knowledge and skills in the game of golf.”

Free for local youth, the clinic at Roma Golf Club will be held from 3.30pm on Monday, June 17.

The Outback Queensland Masters is an Australian-first travelling golf tournament and the most remote competition ever to be staged.

In total it spans 1400km from Roma to Mount Isa, stopping at outback clubs in between.

After Roma, the Outback Masters will stop in Charleville, Longreach, Winton and Boulia before reaching its final destination.

Junior clinics are set to be held at all six clubs along the tour.
