VEC review
Bayside City Council 11 Jun 2019

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is reviewing the ward structure and number of councillors for Bayside City Council.

The VEC must undertake a representation review for each local council about every 12 years.

Representation reviews are an important part of democracy. They aim to ensure that all voters in a local council are fairly and equitably represented.

The review will examine the number of councillors, whether Bayside should continue to be subdivided into wards, and if so, the number of wards, ward boundaries, the name of the wards and how many councillors should represent each ward.

The VEC is inviting input from Bayside residents. Preliminary submissions close on Wednesday 17 July 2019. There will be another opportunity to provide feedback once the VEC determines its proposed options.

An information session will be conducted by the VEC on Monday 17 June at 7pm at Council’s offices in Sandringham.
