Responsive Grants Program

Council has approved a responsive grant of $250 to the Lions Club of Rochester. Funds assisted with costs associated with club’s 50th anniversary celebrations held earlier this month.

Also approved was $890 to the Rochester Town Club to replace old computer equipment.

Council Plan Update

Council has noted the third quarter progress update of actions supporting the 2017-21 Council Plan and funded through the 2018-19 Budget.

The update incorporates a total of 23 actions, with 19 in progress, 1 not yet started and 3 completed. Some of actions underway include:

Identifying key initiatives and funding sources to enable the implementation of the Port Precinct Strategy Starting development of a Flood Study for Echuca, Moama and Torrumbarry Supporting the implementation of the Rochester Community Economic Development Plan Implementing a community education program to support the introduction of a Food Organics Waste Service.

There are 20 remaining initiatives that will be council’s focus for the remainder of the financial year.

The actions support the implementation of the Council Plan, a document that sets a vision of ‘We are strong, supportive, vibrant and sustainable’.

Quarterly Capital Works Program Update

Council has noted the third quarter update of the 2018-19 Capital Works Program, a program of 89 active projects.

Projects completed in this quarter include quarry weighbridge software upgrades and Echuca Aerodrome shoulder and runway works.

Many longer term projects are progressing well including Fox Island Road Bridge reconstruction, the kiosk redevelopment as part of the Riverfront Development Project, Girgarre Recreational Reserve multipurpose courts and Echuca changing places facility.

To support the extensive Capital Works Program planned for 2019-20, some projects have been established early to allow advance design works for kerb and channel, drainage, and footpath projects.
