City of Darwin has today launched a Street Food Map which allows people to quickly and easily identify the location of their favourite food truck in Darwin.

City of Darwin initiated the Street Food Program to activate and add vibrancy to key areas; with the city and foreshore now home to some of the best food vans in Australia, offering fabulous food in iconic locations.

“Eating outside under the stars, particularly during the Dry Season, is part of our lifestyle and City of Darwin is delighted to support this program,” said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis.

“The Street Food Map means people can now search for a food truck that suits their taste and location.”

“The Street Food vans offer everything from the unique to gourmet, so there really is something for everyone.”

The interactive map displays trading names, exact locations, trading times and days, along with links to each vendor’s Facebook page.

“The Street Food Map supports our aim to revitalise public spaces across Darwin and provide a unique outdoor experience,” said Lord Mayor Vatskalis.

Prospective Street Food operators can still apply for a permit on line and are considered on a case by case basis.

The Street Food Program starts on 1 April each year and in 2019 there are currently more than 18 food vans across 4 key locations, including East Point, Rapid Creek, Nightcliff and Darwin City.
