Ballarat (City) 24 Apr 2019

This Thursday thousands will gather throughout Ballarat to honour our past and present service men and women. Ballarat residents are invited to pay tribute to and remember those who have served at one of the many services being held across the municipality on Thursday 25 April.  

Ballarat

• 5.45am Dawn Service at the Ballarat Cenotaph in Sturt Street, followed by Gunfire Breakfast at Ballarat RSL Midlands Golf Club. Buses will be provided

• 8am wreath laying service at the Ballarat Arch of Victory

• 9am Ex-Prisoner of War Memorial wreath laying service

• 10.30am ANZAC Day March, from Lyons Street South to Ballarat Cenotaph

• 11am Commemorative Service at the Ballarat Cenotaph, followed by refreshments and Two-Up from 1pm at Midlands Golf Club. Buses will be provided

Sebastopol

 • 8.45am March from the Sebastopol Post Office, Albert Street

• 9am Commemorative Service at the Sebastopol Cenotaph in Albert Street

Buninyong

 • 10.15am Commemorative Service from the Buninyong RSL at 401 Learmonth Street, Buninyong

Miners Rest

 • 10am wreath laying service at the Miners Rest Cenotaph in Howe Street, Miners Rest

ANZAC Day Commemorative Service road closures

For the safety of participants and all road users, the following traffic alterations will be in place;

Lane closures – Wednesday 24 April In preparation of the ANZAC Day service, Sturt Street will be reduced to one lane between Lyons Street to Dawson Street, on the eastbound side from 1pm Wednesday 24 April until 4pm Thursday 25 April.

Road closures – Thursday 25 April Sturt Street will be closed from Dawson Street to Raglan Street in both directions to all traffic between 1am and 4pm.

During this closure, the following additional roads will be impacted:

Lyons Street South will be closed between Dana Street to Sturt Street with access for residents only (except between 9.30am – 11.30am) Lyons Street North between Sturt Street and Mair Street will permit access for local traffic only via Mair Street only.

Traffic detours will be in place along Dana Street and Mair Street.  

ANZAC Day march road closures

The ANZAC Day March will form up on Lyons Street South from 9.30am. At 10.30am the march will commence and progress westbound into Sturt Street to Raglan Street; head eastbound towards Creswick Road (A300) and return along Sturt Street (westbound) to the Cenotaph at the Lyons Street intersection.

Sturt Street and all intersecting streets will be progressively closed from Raglan Street to Creswick Road from 10.15am and will re-open as soon as the march passes.  

ANZAC Day Sebastopol march road closures The Midland Hwy (A300) will be closed from Victoria Street to Walker Street in both directions to all traffic from 8.15am to 10.30am. Traffic detours will be in place.

Bus route changes A number of bus services will be impacted by services taking place on ANZAC Day, here's everything you need to know.

Sturt Street – outbound routes 11, 24, 25, 26 between 1am-4pm will detour, missing stop 35119 Sturt Street – inbound routes 24, 25, 26 between 1am-4pm will detour, missing stops 35029, 35030, 35032, 35033 Sturt Street –  inbound route 11 will miss stops 35029, 35030, 35032, 35033, 35028 Albert Street, Sebastopol route 24 will miss stops 35510, 35511, 35526 between 8.15am-10.30am
