It’s Nature Play Week from 17 to 28 April and what better way to celebrate nature and all its benefits than by getting out and enjoying the wonderful play spaces, parks and bushland Maroondah has on offer.

Nature Play Week aims to encourage people of all ages, in particular children, to connect with nature and the outdoors.

Councillor Tasa Damante said Maroondah was home to one of the largest open space networks in metropolitan Melbourne, with more than 400 parks and reserves that cater for recreation, relaxation and fitness.

“Nature Play Week is a statewide initiative that aims to get kids away from TVs, computers and smartphones and back playing outside,” Cr Damante said.

“It’s an opportunity for families to reconnect with nature and explore our many parks reserves and natural bushland. It promotes the benefits of natural spaces and their endless options for children to play and imagine,” she said.

Below is a list of some of the beautiful natural spaces Maroondah has on offer:

“Kids are naturally drawn to the outdoors. As a mum of four children, I know how important it is for them to experience nature, not only for the physical aspect but to also appreciate and learn about the world around them.

“We are so lucky to be surrounded by so many great parks, walking trails and bushland settings in Maroondah, so I encourage everyone who is able to get out, to enjoy these places all year-round,” Cr Damante said.

Nature Play Week coincides with the Premier’s Active April, a statewide initiative challenging all Victorians to do 30 minutes of physical activity each day.
