Two children’s art workshops at Ararat Gallery TAMA will complement two family friendly puppet shows being held at the Ararat Town Hall as part of the Ararat Arts Precinct’s upcoming school holiday program.

Children aged 5 and above are invited to a free art workshop, It’s Dachshund Day, in the first week of the holidays on Tuesday 9 April, which is informed by the show Picasso and His Dog being held that Friday, 12 April.

The show is about Pablo Picasso’s very famous Dachshund, Lump, and in the workshop, children will make their very own best friend they can take along to the show. The workshop, being held at the Ararat Gallery TAMA, is free with tickets to the show at the Ararat Town Hall $12 each.

The second free art workshop is called Bowerbird Blue and will be held on Tuesday 16 April, when children will make a mask and necklace from blue objects before the performance of A Little Bit of Blue – all about bowerbirds – at the Pomonal Community Hall on Friday 19 April. All tickets to A Little Bit of Blue are also $12.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said the two workshops and following puppet shows were a wonderful way to entertain children during the holidays.

“The two art workshops will give children an insight into the themes of the two puppet shows. They are bound to enjoy making and creating, and taking their art to the shows later in the week,” Dr Harrison said.

Bookings are advised – please call Ararat Gallery TAMA on 5355 0220. For more information about the workshops visit www.araratgallerytama.com.au and to book tickets for the puppet shows, visit www.ararattownhall.com.au.

Both workshops are from 11am-12pm and both puppet shows are from 11am.
