Friday, March 15 – Tuesday, March 19, 2019 In celebration of this year’s Curiocity Brisbane, we will be projecting donna davis’ 'Mycellium 4' onto the William Jolly Bridge from 15-19 March, 5.30-10pm nightly. Curiocity Brisbane runs across 20 days starting in March where Brisbane will come to life with a myriad of curious encounters with Science, Technology and the Arts. Curiocity Brisbane will transform the city from the South Bank Cultural Precinct to the creative hub centred around the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm. donna davis’s shares these symmetries between art + science through her practice. 'Mycellium 4' by donna davis explores the dynamic and interconnected sphere of nature; reflecting on unseen symbiotic matrices such as tree‐fungi relationships. Beneath our feet are a series of complex networks which act like super highways to support life above ground. These matrices known as mycorrhizal connections, are often shared between species for mutual benefit using these pathways to ensure optimum health for both species. Curiocity Brisbane runs from 15 March-3 April 2019. Artwork information: Mycelium 4 (detail), 2015, by donna davis, pigment print (digital installation version).
