This year why not come along to one or all of Council’s Celebrate Maroondah events and enjoy the range of free activities and entertainment on offer!

Maroondah Mayor Councillor Rob Steane said the three events each provided a great opportunity for residents of all ages to enjoy.

“Our free Celebrate Maroondah community events are fun, family-friendly celebrations of what’s great about the City of Maroondah. You’ll also get to meet your local ward Councillors and find out more about what’s happening in the local area,” Cr Steane said.

“There are three events coming up, one in each ward. Each is a little different and gives residents the chance to meet their ward Councillors and enjoy a fun and family-friendly afternoon or evening out,” he said.

The first Celebrate Maroondah date for your calendar is Friday 15 February with Jazz in the Park at Ringwood Lake Park in the Mullum Ward.

Bring along a picnic hamper and relax on the lawns of Ringwood Lake Park, listening to the classic hot jazz of one of Melbourne’s premier jazz bands, Shirazz, along with roving tunes from Total Fire Band.

Enjoy the pre-show activities including face painting, art and children’s games. Ice-cream and coffee will also be available for purchase.

On Sunday 3 March, Celebrate Maroondah hits the Arrabri Ward for a Family Fun Day Out at Glen Park in Bayswater North.

Join in a game of bubble soccer, or cool off on the slip ‘n’ slide – great fun for everyone!

Enjoy a free sausage sizzle, along with plenty of activities to keep the young ones amused, including face painting, music, art and games galore.

Celebrate Maroondah finishes up in Wyreena Ward on Saturday 30 March, with a free screening of Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle movie (rated PG) at Barngeong Reserve in Croydon.

The movie will commence at dusk, which should be around 8.15pm. Families are welcome to turn up with their own picnics and movie snacks and enjoy a free screening under the stars. Come along early and enjoy the pre-movie activities including face painting, inflatables, art and children’s games. There will also be a free sausage sizzle and ice-cream and coffee will be available for purchase.

“This is a great excuse to get out and about with family and friends and enjoy Maroondah with a fun no-cost evening out. Plus, it’s always nice for my fellow Councillors and I to chat to residents in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Cr Steane.
