ROADS UPDATE at 2.11pm February 1: On the Mulligan Highway the Little Annan is 2.5m below the bridge and the McLeod is closed with 0.5m of water over the crossing. On the Peninsula Development Road the Laura River north is 5m over and rising, the Archer River is 1.55m over and falling and Myall Creek is 0.3m over and falling. Remember to check road conditions and river heights before you travel (www.cook.qld.gov.au/services/disaster), and if it's flooded, forget it.
