FURTHER MAIN ROADS ROADS UPDATE 1/1/2019

1. An Engineer from Main Roads has inspected the Hazelmere Bridge on Isabella Ck and is working with a Contractor to remediate bridge damage. The bridge is trafficable but Main Roads are considering a load limit on this bridge due to the damage. Please be aware there will be delays while repairs are carried out and your patience is appreciated.

2. Main Roads have also inspected the gabion baskets adjacent to the Wallaby Creek Bridge and there is no slippage failure apparent at this time.

3. Main Road have now closed areas of the Peninsular Development Road to local traffic only with a 5 ton limit. Areas closed are: Laura to Coen Coen to Archer River Archer River to Aurukun turnoff.

There is a large tree blocking the road at Wallaby Ck on the Shiptons Flat Rd. In addition there are signs of landslip adjacent to the Wallaby Ck bridge where the gabion baskets border the road. This may develop and further impact road access along Shiptons Flat Rd - be aware 3. Cook Shire Council controlled rural roads are generally closed throughout the Cape, except where local prevailing road conditions allow safe local light traffic movement along passable road segments.
