Lifejacket laws have changed to keep our community safe in the water. The 12 month awareness and education phase has now been completed.

Lifejackets are now mandatory at all times while on a vessel less than 4.8 metres in length, as part of new State Government laws.

For vessels 4.8 metres to 12 metres in length, children aged 12 or younger must wear a lifejacket at all times when on an open area on the vessel, and at all times when moving or at anchor.
