Gladstone Regional Council advises that preparatory works for the upgrade of several footpaths in Gladstone will start next Monday (Oct 8) and continue for the remainder of the week.

Works will be conducted at the following locations:

• Dawson Highway between Philip Street intersection and the Gladstone Homemaker Centre (Bunnings) entry, including branches towards Wick and Beak streets, Penda Avenue and Shaw Street adjacent to the skate park;

• Blain Drive extending from Palm Drive alongside Webb Park dog exercise facility and through the 'flying fox park' to the entry adjacent to the Gladstone Transfer Station entry on Joe Joseph Drive;

• The Millennium Pathway at Barney Point between the entry at the corner of Bell Street and entry onto The Esplanade at Barney Point; and

• Sections of the Dalrymple Drive pathway extending from Gladstone-Benaraby Road to the Javelin Street junction.

Signs, detours and controls will be in place to guide pedestrians and cyclists safely past the various work areas with those travelling past the sites urged to exercise caution and follow directions.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while these works, necessary for the overlaying of asphalt on the paths, are completed. The completed works will provide vastly improved surfaces for the safe usage of Gladstone Region residents and visitors to the region.

The works are part of an overall upgrade program for the region's footpaths which is being conducted via funding assistance provided by the State Government's Works for Queensland initiative.
