The West Tamar Council is happy to announce the launch of our Food Organics, Garden Organics, Green Waste Service into the Trevallyn, Riverside and Legana areas.

The opt-in FOGO kerbside collection gathers discarded food and garden waste which includes cooked or uncooked fruit and vegetables, lawn clippings, weeds, and garden leaves, and processes it at the Launceston Waste Centre's Organic Processing Facility.

Collecting FOGO material will reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, and the production of Methane Gas, which is around 25 times more damaging to the atmosphere than the same amount of CO2.

A $95 FOGO Service charge will be added to the Rates and Charges notice of those properties which choose to participate in the fortnightly service, located in the above mentioned areas.

“We’re excited to be able to offer this service to the highly populated parts of our municipality” West Tamar Council Mayor Christina Holmdahl said, “it will offer great value to those who choose to register and will have an excellent effect on our environment”.

Registrations are now open via the council website, with the first delivery of bins scheduled for late June in order for the service to commence on the 2nd July 2018.

For further information and to registration for the service, please visit our website www.wtc.tas.gov.au/FOGO
