Council has revised Planning Scheme Amendment C126 in response to community feedback.

The Planning Scheme Amendment proposes new planning controls for developments in 32 local shopping strips to preserve their neighbourhood character and plan for the forecast change in these centres.

The Planning Scheme Amendment will incorporate new planning controls, including applying height controls of between two and four storeys and specifies new design guidelines for activity centres. The Amendment also proposes the rezoning of some commercial shopping strips to promote a greater range of local uses to meet the community’s needs.

Council originally advertised the proposed controls in March 2017 and has undertaken a comprehensive review of what was proposed, based on feedback received by the community.

The revised controls now incorporate a range of changes to what was originally proposed and have been modified to make them easier to interpret.
