Bayside’s 14th Seniors Festival is now open with a calendar of events jam packed with 100 different activities to choose from during the month long celebrations.

Whether it’s arts and culture, sports, health and wellbeing, a day out or if you are looking to  try something new – then Bayside is the place to be.

More than 100 residents attended the launch, held at the Brighton Town Hall yesterday, which featured authors Don and Patricia Edgar AM who are both experts in ageing.

Having a healthy and active community is a priority for Council. It is more important than ever given that one in three Bayside residents are now aged 55 year or older. This will increase by 15% in the next 10 years - and 25% within 20 years.

Over the coming years, Council will continue to carefully plan leisure and learning facilities, programs and services, more diverse sporting, recreation and leisure activities, infrastructure and advocacy tailored to address the needs of these residents.

This work is informed by the advice of the Bayside Healthy Ageing Reference Group who assisted in the planning of the Seniors Festival. Council is currently inviting interested residents to consider joining the group this year to help Council plan for the needs of seniors in Bayside.
