Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley welcomed the state government’s announcement on the proposed $8 billion offshore wind farm off the Gippsland coastline.

She says: “This proposal would see a significant investment in our region, particularly during the construction phase and this investment could have long-term benefits for communities throughout the Shire.

“Council understands that there will be a lengthy feasibility process and all interested parties will have plenty of opportunity to present their views on the proposed wind farm development.

“Council has had preliminary discussions with the proponents, Offshore Energy, and we are looking forward to working with them more closely as the project develops.”
