Yorke Peninsula Council’s YorKON Games Convention attracted bigger than expected crowds on Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 April.

The free event provided the local community, especially young people and their families, with the unique opportunity to engage in a fun and social games event.

The two-day convention included free play computer, retro games, arcade games, workshops, table top games and a costume competition.

The event was expanded this year with new interactive activities including a self-guided Minecraft themed orienteering activity and jumbo sized build and play Minecraft scenes.

Attendees were encouraged to dress up with characters like Darth Vader, Power Rangers and even Glinda the Good Witch wowing the crowd.

“The convention was a hit with something for all ages to enjoy,” Mayor Darren Braund said.

“I’m pleased so many people supported this unique event and I would like to thank Council staff for making it possible.

“This event gets bigger and better each year and Council is excited to announce it will be returning in 2024 during the April school holidays.

“We would like to thank our event partners which include Team AvCon, Copper Coast Table Top Gamers, Retrospekt, Little Adventurers and Southern Dewback Garrison – 501st Legion, Cold Creature Art, Ben’s IT Communications, Maitland and District Progress Association, Oh My Grill and Yorke Solar.”
