Elected members have approved Yorke Peninsula Council entering into a formal agreement with EasyPark, so YP boat ramp users can buy single launch permits using a phone app.

What this means:

. More choice for boat ramp users – they can use the app, or use the old systems which include the coin-only machines, monthly or annual permits

. More convenience — people will no longer need loose change when visiting our boat ramps

. Discounts for users – those who wish to use the EasyPark app will be charged $5 per launch (down from $6 at the coin machines) for the rest of the financial year

What it DOES NOT mean:

. We are not removing the coin machines – if you prefer the old system, it’s still there for you

. There are no changes or additional charges to monthly or annual permits – you still purchase these the same way as before

. You still won’t be charged to park your car and trailer, it is only for launching your boat

. There are no hidden charges — nil establishment or monthly account keeping fees charged to users via EasyPark (activation fees in the EasyPark terms and conditions relate to business accounts, not individuals purchasing single-use permits)

. There is no requirement to sign up for monthly membership, although if you wish to you can pay a fee and in exchange access regular discounts

. If the app is down, you won’t be stuck high and dry, you can just use the coin machines

. No additional cost to ratepayers – establishment of the app for Council’s eight boat ramps is at no financial cost to Council

Your privacy is important to us:

. The personal information you put into the EasyPark app will not compromise your privacy – the app provider is subject to the Privacy Act and cannot forward your details on to third parties contrary to the Act

. If you want to be extra sure, you can lodge a request for the app provider not to pass on personal details to third parties – this is not considered necessary since you’re protected by the Privacy Act, but is an additional option

EasyPark features:

. Signage will be provided by EasyPark for each boat ramp

. A call centre is available to help you – it’s open 6.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday, and 7.30am to 8.30pm on weekends
