Information for Bushfire affected communities from the Valuer-General

For those who have experienced loss, you are very welcome to reach out to the Valuer-General’s Office or Land Services SA through the details listed below.

‘I had anticipated welcoming any who may happen to read this to the New Year with the positive enthusiasm the opportunities of a New Year inspires, but this festive period has been met with horror, pain and suffering for so many in the wake of the bushfires. So much has been lost and I cannot even begin to fathom the pain of losing loved ones.

Through it all are stories of wondrous bravery, resilience and generosity that are more inspiring than anything the turn of the calendar can produce. Our emergency services and volunteers continue to demonstrate they are extraordinary people doing their utmost to help during times such as these.

For those in our community that have suffered property damage we understand you have far greater priorities at this time than to worry about your property value for rating and taxing purposes, but please know that we are attempting to manage this small component on your behalf without adding to your burdens.

The State Recovery Office has been aiding the Office of the Valuer-General and Land Services SA in identifying where people have experienced loss to their property. This will enable us to automatically make adjustments to your property value where appropriate. Those values will then be communicated to the relevant Rating and Taxation entities.

For those who have experienced loss, you are very welcome to reach out to my office or the Land Services SA call centre on 08 8423 5000 (country callers 1800 648 176) if you have any queries. You can also fax to 08 8423 5090 or email to [email protected] .
