Gumurr Gattjirrk Ward Councillor declared

On the 14 June 2019 the NT Electoral Commission declared that Joe Djakala was duly elected to the vacant position of Ordinary Council Member for the East Arnhem Regional Council Gumurr Gattjirrk Ward.

Nominations to stand as a candidate for this by-election were invited on 5 June 2019 and at close of nominations 12 noon, 14 June 2019, only one nomination was received. With only one vacancy and one nomination, Joe Djakala was automatically declared to the position.

Residents were advised that the election day set for Wednesday 3 July 2019 was therefore not required.

East Arnhem Regional Council welcomes Cr Djakala and is excited to have him as part of the team and strong voice for Milingimbi.
