Verdant Minerals plans to develop the Ammaroo Phosphate Project, on Ammaroo Station, 220km southeast of Tennant Creek. Documents on the project, which includes an open cut mining operation, are available at the Library, 41 Peko Road, Tennant Creek; Department of Environment and Natural resources, Arid Zone Research Institute, South Stuart Highway, Alice Springs, or can be viewed electronically at www.verdantminerals.com.au under the Ammaroo Phosphate link on the Projects menu. These documents are available until 11 May 2018. Some facts about phosphate: Some phosphate rock is used to make calcium phosphate nutritional supplements for animals. Pure phosphorus is used to make chemicals for use in industry. The most important use of phosphate rock, though, is in the production of phosphate fertilizers for agriculture.
