Decision of the Magistrates’ Court today on 5 November tragedy

Published on 19 September 2024

Statement from Bradley Thomas, CEO:

The tragedy on 5 November 2023 in Daylesford has left lasting impacts for the victims’ families and our community. While it would not be appropriate for Council to comment on the decision of the Magistrates’ Court today, our thoughts are with the families of the victims and others impacted. As the anniversary of the tragedy approaches, we appreciate that 5 November will be a time of individual and collective remembrance. We hope it will be a time for reflection, solidarity and healing. This is important for the community of Hepburn Shire and commemorations planned for the day will reflect this, while taking into account the families wishes. Council will advise more details in coming weeks.
