Western Downs Regional Council has digitally transformed how the community can view and access local development information with the launch of its new online planning platform, Development.i.

Development.i will provide customers with an online, self-service portal, allowing access to past and current development application details and basic property information for the Western Downs Local Government area.

Council spokesperson for Planning, Environment and Agribusiness Councillor Andrew Smith said that by improving what was traditionally a paper-based system, Council was making it easier for the public to learn more about development applications lodged with Council.

“Council is focused on proactive, sustainable planning for the future and this platform will make it even easier to stay informed about what is happening in your area, gather information to help prepare applications, or make a submission on an application,” Cr Smith said.

“Council has a legislative requirement to provide the information found on Development.i, and by introducing this new online platform, we’re replacing manual processes and providing more convenience and transparency for residents, applicants, planners and other consultants, allowing residents to access planning information when and where it suits them.

“Zoning, overlays and other town planning information were also recently made available to the public via Council’s Interactive Mapping and Planning Property Report tools, which will be great for the community to find out more about their own property.

“Development.i combined with the Interactive Mapping and Planning Property Report features will ensure that anyone interested in developing in the Western Downs have the necessary tools to do so right at their fingertips.”

The new features can be accessed via Council’s website.
