Council’s Community Funding Scheme grant applications now open!

Council’s annual grants program, the Community Funding Scheme, is now open and accepting applications until 27 June.

The Community Funding Scheme provides funds to not-for-profit community groups for programs and initiatives that benefit residents of the Macedon Ranges and help achieve the Community Vison and Council Plan goals.

Total funding of $160,000 is available for 2022-23 and will be allocated under four streams including: community and cultural development projects, enhancing the effectiveness of local community groups, supporting local environmental priorities, and enhancing community places and infrastructure.

Some projects funded under the 2021-22 Community Funding Scheme included:

Macedon & Mount Macedon Community House ($11,999) – Building and land use master plan: to help guide the future use of the new community house. Regional Victorians of Colour Inc. ($6,400) – The Chai and conversation project: supporting ten leaders from migrant and refugee backgrounds to develop capacity as community leaders. Chai and conversation sessions held across the shire to celebrate and share traditions and cultures. Romsey Neighbourhood House ($10,000) – YOUTHINK: a youth engagement program offering a range of activities, skills development courses, mentoring and access to fortnightly subsidised transport.

Council’s Director Community, Maria Weiss said the grants are a great way for not-for-profit community groups to source funding to support programs and initiatives that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.

“The Community Funding Scheme is there to support our local not-for profit community groups who play a fundamental role in strengthening community inclusion and wellbeing through their initiatives. We encourage any groups in the Macedon Ranges who have a project that requires funding support to check their eligibility and apply for this fantastic opportunity,” she said.

Grant applications will be accepted online via the grants administration system SmartyGrants.

Local community groups and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to discuss their project ideas with a Council Officer as soon as possible.
