Time is running out to enjoy the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools, with both Gannawarra Shire Council-managed facilities to close for autumn and winter at 7pm Sunday, 13 March.

Both facilities have been popular for residents and visitors to the area since the 2021/22 season began in mid-November.

“Despite challenges associated with staff shortages and COVID-19 cases forcing employees to isolate for periods of time, Council has managed the best way possible to keep the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools operating in what has been a unique season,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Council thanks users of both facilities for their patience and understanding during the season, and hopes that residents and visitors continue to visit these facilities during the season’s final three weeks.”

With the end of the 2021/22 season approaching, the following arrangements will be implemented:

The Kerang Swimming Pool will hold its final Morning Laps session for the season on Wednesday, 23 February. The Cohuna Swimming Pool will hold its final Morning Laps session for the season on Thursday, 24 February. Waterslides at the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will operate for the final time this season between 3pm and 6pm on Friday, 25 February and Sunday, 27 February. The Cohuna and Kerang Swimming Pools will be open between 3pm and 7pm from Tuesday, 1 March to Sunday, 13 March.

“Please note that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”
