On 13 September 2021, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River will open applications for a range of grants programs for events and initiatives taking place in the 2021-22 Financial Year.

The grants aim to recognise and support the vital contribution of community and business to the social, environmental, cultural and economic fabric of the community.

This will be the inaugural launch of the Sustainable Economy Grants (up to $10,000) to support outcomes from the recently endorsed Sustainable Economy Strategy.

Programs offering second rounds include:

Community Development and Events Grants ($2,000-$12,000) Easy Grants (under $2,000) Major Events Grants (up to $25,000)

Several grant information sessions will be held for the following funding categories:

Sustainable Economy Grants Thursday 16 September 12pm-1pm, Augusta Community Resource Centre 4.30pm-5.30pm, Margaret River Shire Offices RSVP to [email protected]

Community Development and Events Grants Thursday 23 September 10am-11-.30am, Augusta Council Chambers 2pm - 3.30pm, Margaret River Shire Offices RSVP to [email protected]

Shire Corporate and Community Service Director James Shepherd said each funding category came with its own set of criteria to ensure a diverse range of outcomes could be achieved for the community.  

“The Shire provides up to 5% of the annual rates income for a range of programs and events delivered by community organisations, businesses and individuals,” he said.

“These offerings help make the Augusta Margaret River region a vibrant and sustainable place to live, work and play.”
