Public Hearing: The Gully Aboriginal Place

Council is holding a Public Hearing on the Draft Plan of Management (POM) for The Gully Aboriginal Place in Katoomba and the proposed recategorisation of community land.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Public Hearing will now take place via Zoom:

When: 1pm - 2.30pm, Saturday 7 August, 2021

Where: Zoom platform (the link will be emailed to registered participants)

Registration by 5pm on Friday 6 August 2021 is essential to attend the online public hearing.

“Council has updated the Draft Plan of Management for the Gully Aboriginal Place in partnership with The Gully Traditional Owners and following extensive engagement with members of The Gully Aboriginal Community and the broader community,” Mayor Cr Mark Greenhill said.

“I’d like to thank those who have made submissions so far and I encourage interested parties to attend this Public Hearing for the future of this important Blue Mountains place, or to make a submission.”

The Gully Aboriginal Place Draft Plan of Management proposes amending the existing community land categories from Sportsground to Natural Area in The Gully (Frank Walford Park) and a boundary adjustment to the General Community Use and Park categories in Frank Walford Park.

The Public Hearing is required by local government legislation and will be conducted by an independent planning consultant.

Registered participants will need to provide an email address and download the Zoom app on a desktop or mobile device to receive the invitation to the online public hearing.

For anyone who is unable to participate in the online public hearing, they can comment on proposed land recategorisation by making a written submission or contact Council until Sunday 15 August 2021 via:
