Councillor Anab Mohamud update

Thursday 29 July 2021

Councillor Anab Mohamud will be seeking leave from Council duties at the next Council meeting on 3 August 2021.

Statement from Cr Mohamud:

“On advice from my doctor, to aid in my recovery I have decided to take medical leave without pay until later in the year. I will request that the Council grant this leave at the next Council meeting on August 3 2021."

"It has been incredibly frustrating for me that for legal reasons it has not been possible for me to tell my side of the story and correct some of the allegations that have been made."

"While I trust that the truth will come out through the coming months, I know that many people have been hurt by the allegations made about me. Please don’t believe all of what you might have read online. We cannot let people try to turn us against one another. It is so important that we come together, and don’t let the people who profit from dividing the community succeed."

"Our community means so much to me and, at this time, I would especially like to thank those members of our community who trusted me with their vote to represent them on Council and all those kind and wonderful people that have sent me messages of support as I recover from serious physical and emotional injuries."

"I look forward to recovering to full health, clearing my name and continuing to represent the Yarra community”.
