Council civic rooms and courtyard renewal MEDIA RELEASE

Council’s civic reception rooms and courtyard civic area will get a $1.3 million makeover this year.

Both areas used extensively for public events and functions, as well as conferences and civic services, including citizenship ceremonies, and have not been refurbished since the Council Administration Building on Spence Street was construction in 1998.

The amenities, fit-out and fixtures, infrastructure and the technology available are now considered outdated and limit the delivery of services.

The planned refurbishment will modernise the visual and functional aspects of the civic reception rooms and the courtyard, upgrading the services and technology available to users, and meet community expectations.

Council invited tenders for the refurbishment and upgrade works, with Richard Field Constructions awarded the $956,927 contract for the construction component of the project.
