New car park on Queen Victoria Street
City of Fremantle 27 Jul 2021

A new City of Fremantle car park is now available on Queen Victoria Street.

The new car park at the intersection of Queen Victoria Street and James Street boasts 75 parking bays, and costs just $1.90 per hour or $9.50 for the whole day. It’s even cheaper if you use the City’s PayStay parking app.

Deputy Mayor Andrew Sullivan said the new car park provides a cheap and convenient option for people visiting Fremantle’s East End.

“The City of Fremantle manages more than 2300 parking bays in our 28 off-street car parks around the city, as well as over a thousand on-street parking bays,” Cr Sullivan said.

“The new one on Queen Victoria Street was occupied by Shacks Holden, but when they decided to consolidate their operations across the road we negotiated a management agreement to get access to the site.

“It’s just a short stroll from the centre of town, and also provides easy access to City facilities like Fremantle Arts Centre and Fremantle Leisure Centre as well as popular venues like Sunshine Harvester Works, Gesha Coffee and all of the great businesses around Queen Victoria Street.”

Parking in the City of Fremantle’s off-street car parks in more central locations costs $2.50 per hour, while parking on the fringes of the city centre is just $1.90 per hour or $9.50 for the whole day.

The easiest, cheapest and most convenient way to park in Fremantle is to use the PayStay app, which is timed down to the minute so you only pay for the time you use.

Motorists using PayStay receive 20 cents per hour discount at all City of Fremantle off-street car parks and $1 per day in those car parks where daily fees apply. A 10 cents per hour discount applies for PayStay with on-street parking.

Half an hour of free parking is available on High Street in the West End and on Adelaide Street between Parry and Queen Street.

The City also offers the second hour free at the Cappuccino Strip car park on South Terrace, Parry Street car park and Point Street outdoor car park.

Fremantle residents can also apply for a ‘Free After 3’ residents parking permit which allows them to park for free in on-street parking bays from 3pm until 11am, seven days a week.
