Do you have a community or environmental sustainability-based program, project or event that could benefit from funding to support your organisation’s efforts?

Ararat Wind Farm Sustainable Grants Program 2021 is now open, with applications being accepted from this week.

Since 2017, The Ararat Wind Farm Pty Ltd has proudly supported communities to make an impact, as well as promote social wellbeing and environmental sustainability projects for the benefit of communities across Ararat, Pyrenees, and Northern Grampians municipalities.

Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said the program, administered by Council, provides eligible groups with financial assistance, helping them run innovative and sustainable projects that benefit the wider community.

“Grants of up to $5,000 for smaller projects or $10,000 grants with matching funding for larger projects are available through the Ararat Wind Farm Sustainable Grants program,” Dr Harrison said.

“It’s a chance for community groups to receive extra support to purchase equipment, upgrade facilities, and promote health, arts and cultural activities.

“All applications go through a competitive assessment process that ensures equity and transparency.”

$65,000 of grant funding from Ararat Wind Farm will be shared across the municipalities of Ararat Rural City, Northern Grampians and Pyrenees.

“It’s great to see the Ararat Wind Farm continue to invest in our communities through funding initiatives across a range of areas,” he continued.

“A good example of this is helping East Grampians Health Service Residents’ Support Group to install eight shade structures in and around the gardens of the 70 Lowe Street Residential Aged Care Home.

“Spending time outdoors improves the wellbeing of residents. With these shade structures in place, residents of the aged care home, along with visitors and staff, can now enjoy the garden and views over Mount Langi Ghiran, while being protected from the sun or rain,” he concluded.

Applications are now open and will close at 5.00 pm on Monday 9 August 2021. Successful grant recipients are to be announced in late August after all applications are thoroughly assessed.
