Wollondilly’s successful ‘Love the Dilly’ campaign will be extended to promote the Shire as a visitor destination and support economic recovery, thanks to funding from the State and Federal Governments’ Bushfire Local Recovery Fund.

The Love the Dilly Bushfire Recovery Campaign will receive $600,000 for a range of activities aimed at increasing awareness  of Wollondilly and growing visitor numbers, including leveraging Destination NSW’s “Love NSW” program.

Wollondilly has extraordinary natural beauty and vibrant heritage towns, emerging as a desirable destination due to its close proximity to Sydney.

Building on the recognisable ‘Love the Dilly’ shop, visit and love local campaign which launched in 2020, this campaign will promote Wollondilly in regional and metropolitan areas, including magazine, radio and digital advertising, creation of merchandise, video, billboards and website content enhancements.

Mayor Robert Khan said, “The secret’s out! Wollondilly is a hidden gem on Sydney’s outskirts which features a variety of natural bushland and open spaces to explore, as well as many unique attractions in its towns and villages.”

“The majority of Wollondilly businesses are locally and family owned and rely on visitation from outside the region to remain viable.”

“The Love the Dilly Bushfire Recovery Campaign will help bring more visitors to this beautiful area and provide a boost to our local economy.”

Member for Hume, Angus Taylor MP said, “This is a great way to empower Wollondilly’s vulnerable business community and help them cope with the economic stress caused by the recent bushfires as well as floods and Covid-19.”

“The project could be a game-changer for the region due to its potential to have impact on investment and expenditure as visitation increases.”

State Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith MP said, “Following the bushfires, local businesses took a hit with a decline in visitation, and they have understandably been uncertain about their future.”

“Through promoting Wollondilly as a great place to live, work and visit, the Love the Dilly Bushfire Recovery Campaign will lead to increased spending, encourage employment growth, and provide the local economy with a well-deserved boost,” he said.
