City of Darwin is hosting free family fun events in Darwin to celebrate National Families Week 2021 - Australia’s annual celebration of the importance of families.

National Families Week is being held between Saturday, 15 May and Friday, 21 May 2021.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said: “Families play an important role and are the central building block of our communities.

“To celebrate National Families Week in Darwin, Council is hosting free events to encourage families, extended family and friends to come together and celebrate the meaning of family and to make the most of family life.

“I encourage you to come along, have fun, relax and enjoy quality family time together.”

Family Fun and Games will be held at Sunset Park, Aralia Street, Nightcliff on Wednesday, 19 May 2021 from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. There will be large fun and games, musical games, making and creating, drama activities, art and craft activities, story time and a sausage sizzle.

Friday Fun Day will be held at Bicentennial Park, The Esplanade, Darwin on Friday, 21 May 2021 from 9am to 12pm. There will be water play, loose parts play, obstacle course, arts and crafts activities, story time and morning tea provided.

National Families Week is run by Families Australia, a national, peak, not-for-profit organisation which strives to improve the wellbeing of all Australian families and is supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
