National Volunteers Week – Celebrating 200 Years of Volunteering in Sorell
Sorell Council 30 Apr 2021
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. From Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd May 2021, NVW will celebrate the significant contribution of Australia’s almost six million volunteers. Each year these volunteers dedicate over 600 million hours to help others.

Council is hosting a Volunteer Recognition Reception during National Volunteers Week and individuals and representatives from all local volunteer groups are invited to attend.

This year we are celebrating 200 years of volunteering in Sorell as part of the 200-year anniversary commemorations of the naming of the Sorell Township.

Wednesday 19 May – 6.00pm @ the Sorell Memorial Hall

A light supper and refreshments will be available.

Due to COVID restrictions RSVPs are essential – Please phone 6269 0000 or email [email protected] by Friday 14 May.

We are intending on having a photo slideshow on the evening to show volunteering in action in Sorell over the past 200 years. If you have photos you would be happy to share please send them to us! They can be emailed to [email protected]. We can also scan photo if they are in hard copy format. Thank you for your help!

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

The Mayor, Councillors and Staff of Sorell Council would like to acknowledge and pass on our appreciation for all those who volunteer in our community. Your invaluable contributions make our community a better place. Saying thank you can’t accurately convey our gratitude, but nonetheless, we say thank you!
