Budding filmmakers and actors living within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River are invited to enter a short film competition for a chance to win an iPad Mini 4.

The competition is open to young people of all abilities and skill levels aged 12 to 25 and requires the submission of a 3-4 minute film exploring the Augusta Margaret River region.

Shire Community Development Trainee Shannon Walker said entrants should explore what they love about the area and what they would like to see for youth in the future in the most creative and cinematic ways possible.

“We want you to show us some of your favourite parts of the region and let us know what you think is needed for young people,” she said.

“We want to see creativity, innovation and ideas, and most importantly, we want young people to have their say on this region's future."

Videos should be uploaded to YourSay by 3 May 2021 before the community gets the chance to view and vote on submissions.

All videos will be displayed in the Zone Room during the Healthy Habitz event, which runs 3-7 May, and the short film with the highest vote will win the iPad Mini.

Ms Walker said the video competition formed part of the consultation process for the review of the Strengthening Youth Plan 2018-2022 and was a fun way for young people to give input and ideas.

“The content you create in your videos will influence the development of the Shire’s new youth plan,” Ms Walker said.

“So get out there, get creative and have your say in the planning for this region’s future.”
