The Wyangala Dam Wall Raising project team has advised that it will be holding a number of webinars as a means of updating local business owners and operators on the project’s progress as well as ongoing opportunities to be involved in the project.

During the ongoing development of the project, the team has already utilised local services such as civil engineering, geotechnical and field investigations, land surveying, accommodation, food and beverage, equipment and plant hire and there are many more that will be required as the project progresses.

The information webinars will be run online using Zoom during the following sessions: -

Session 1: Thursday 15 April from 12pm until 1:30pm

Session 2: Thursday 15 April from 6pm until 7:30pm

Session 3: Friday 16 April from 12pm until 1:30pm

Session 4: Friday 16 April from 6pm until 7:30pm

PARKES BYPASS LOCAL INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT

Local contractors and suppliers are advised that a Local Industry session for the Parkes Bypass will be held on Tuesday 20 April 2021 from 3pm until 5pm at the Parkes Golf Club.

This information session will allow local contractors and suppliers to meet the prospective tenderers for the $187.2 million project and start building opportunities for local employment. The NSW Minister for Regional Transport, the Hon. Paul Toole MP said the aim of this major infrastructure project is “to make sure that we are creating local jobs and local opportunities…so that the community is benefiting from the project before a single vehicle uses the bypass”.

VOLUNTEER GRANTS 2021-22

Local volunteer groups are urged to apply for grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 for the purchase of small equipment for volunteers or for the reimbursement of volunteer fuel, transport or training costs under the 2021-22 Round of the Volunteer Grants program.

The COVID-19 pandemic, coming on the heels of the long drought and last year’s terrible bushfire season, has thrown many challenges at our community volunteer groups and this grants round will be of great help to them.

BREASTSCREEN VAN VISIT TO GRENFELL

Residents are hereby advised that the mobile BreastScreen NSW van will be stationed in front of Vaughn Park on Melyra Street, Grenfell from 23 March 2021 until 15 April 2021 and women of the Weddin Shire are encouraged to book a free mammogram.

Western NSW Local Health District advises that breast screening every two years is incredibly important for women aged 50 – 74 for the following reasons: -

breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in NSW 1 in 7 women in NSW will be diagnosed with breast cancer by age 85 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer do not have a family history a mammogram can pick up cancers that cannot be seen or felt a mammogram every two years takes just 20 minutes and it could save your life

ROAD WORKS – NOWLANS ROAD

Residents are hereby advised that Council will be carrying out gravel resheeting works on Nowlans Road from Monday 12 April 2021 until early July 2021, weather permitting.

The resheeting will start at the intersection of Nowlans Road and Bimbi-Quandialla Road and work progressively north for approximately 15kms to the edge of the seal. Minor clearing, table drain reinstatement and extensions to the existing stormwater network will also be undertaken along the way.

During these works residents can expect heavy machinery to be active and as such, traffic control will be in place. Some noise and dust disturbance is expected due to the use of various plant and equipment onsite, however any impact to residents will be minimised where possible.
