Ararat Rural City Council has relaunched a search to hire an exceptional Supported Playgroup Facilitator who’s passionate about life-long learning to join their Early Years team.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison welcomes the Victorian Government’s efforts through funding to deliver a Supported Playgroups program for our region.

“Early childhood facilitators are in demand for the Ararat Rural City region – this is an incredible opportunity for a passionate educator to make an impact and help vulnerable families within the community,” said Dr Harrison.

“Filling in the role has proven to be a challenge due to the shortage of early childhood educators in regional Victoria – we’ve been searching for the right person for a while now.

“Council is looking for a qualified individual who simply loves children and wants to give them the best start in life.

“It’s essential for children to have learning and development opportunities from an early age - we know the experiences in early childhood can shape the foundations of social, emotional, and mental wellbeing for years to come.

“Day-to-day, the facilitator’s advice and strategies will cater to the growth and development of young ones preparing for community playgroups or school.”

Supported Playgroups program are designed to help vulnerable families with children, from birth to school age, develop their skills and confidence to support their child’s wellbeing using smalltalk.  Strategies delivered from smalltalk aim to help parents be more mindful of everyday interactions they have with their child, through the way the talk, listen and play.

“Playgroups are an important source of support for parents through challenging times and help them navigate the early stages of childhood development,” concluded Dr Tim.
