From Monday, 1 February 2021 Council will be conducting necessary trail improvement, upgrade and repair works in Jubilee Park on sections of the fire trail from Sandstone Ridge Trail to Amos Road.

During the construction period, the Sandstone Ridge Fire Trail and the lower section of the Jubilee Park Bridle Trail will be closed to the public for safety reasons.

Works aren’t expected to impact the use of other existing mountain bike trails or walking areas within Jubilee Park, however, bike riders using the MacKenzie Frenzy trail, which runs parallel to the Bridle Trail in some areas, may experience occasional disruption.

TRC Environment and Community portfolio lead Councillor, Tim McMahon said the works are needed to address erosion along the important fire management and recreational trail.

“The works will ensure one of our critical fire management trails continues working effectively,” he said.

“In addition, the works will significantly improve the experience of the trails for our recreational users.”

Cr McMahon said Council has invested $610,000 this financial year to improve and upgrade fire management access in Jubilee Park.

“While we understand these trails are heavily used, the works are essential to ensure the ongoing safety of our community members and volunteers,” he said.

Construction is expected to take six weeks. The trails will reopen by Friday, 12 March, assuming no significant delays due to wet weather.

“We realise this construction will be an inconvenience for users, so Council will be completing the work as quickly as possible,” Cr McMahon said.

“Any changes to construction or re-opening dates will be communicated to our residents.”

Trail users should observe all directional signage and not enter the impacted area of the Bridle trail during the construction period.

Barriers and signage will be in place to identify the area affected by this closure.
