Residents and visitors are invited to an immersive performance exploring themes of renewal on Sunday 24 January.

Regeneration sees actors from the Narooma Youth Theatre present their visions for the future – and provide some timely advice for the present. Director Amy Spurgeon said theirs was a show where dreams become reality.

“These young players will share five fantastical stories,” Ms Spurgeon said.

“Whether it’s imagined future humans dwelling underwater, a Broadway hopeful whose dreams of New York are dashed by the virus, or the poetic Monster of Bad Things as written and performed by our youngest stars, these actors are sure to delight.”

Ms Spurgeon graduated with a degree in theatre from the University of Melbourne but admits to being a life-long playwright who “grew up putting on plays”.

“I’ve been working with the youth theatre for six years now – the kids are well seasoned actors,” she said.

Regeneration will be performed at Narooma’s Quota Park. Narooma Chamber of Commerce and Tourism president Jenny Munro said the show would help reconnect residents and tourists with the town’s public places.

“We’re excited to be a part of this and look to local businesses to embrace the theme. We’ve seen a series of setbacks in the last year so we’re all looking forward to these special performances, and with Amy in the director’s chair we won’t be disappointed,” Dr Munro said.

Regeneration is a collaboration between the Narooma Youth Theatre Company, the Narooma Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and Eurobodalla Council and made possible by NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s The Festival of Place – Summer Fund.

Regeneration will be a COVID-safe event. Numbers are limited and bookings essential:
