Council grants program now open Thursday 14 January

Community groups and organisations across East Gippsland are being encouraged to apply for the Community Grants Program Round Two which is now open.

East Gippsland Shire Council has supported many worthwhile projects and groups through the grants program over many years and encourages community clubs, facilities managers, event  owners and groups to think about projects and activities they are wanting to achieve and look into whether they fit into the criteria for the grants.

Funding is available in three categories: Community Project Grants; Arts and Heritage Grants; and Regional and District Event Sponsorship (RADES). The grants are awarded to support community groups and organisations, however some of the Arts and Heritage grants are available to individuals. Any funded activity in this round must be for activities that commence after the grant notification in mid-May.

Mayor Mendy Urie said applications are invited for a wide range of activities which aim to build strength and resilience by empowering people of all ages and abilities to feel engaged and connected in our community.

“We are encouraging applications supporting community celebrations or events and activities that contribute a community benefit,” Cr Urie said.

“Events that that attract visitors to our region and contribute to the local economy, provide social outcomes for local communities, and deliver lasting legacies are also encouraged to apply under RADES funding.”

Funding of up to $5,000 is available for Community Project, Arts and Heritage grants. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for major arts projects. The funding for Regional and District Event Sponsorship (RADES) is unique as event organisers can apply for up to three years funding. Some of the grants require a dollar-for-dollar contribution, half of which can be a non-monetary, in-kind contribution.
