Achieving a Community Cultural Precinct for Sorell
Sorell Council 5 Jan 2021
In October 2020 Sorell Council invited the community to attend a forum to participate in a broad conversation about achieving the vision of a Community Cultural Centre for Sorell. 79 people attended the forum and 43 written submissions were received after the event detailing thoughts and ideas about the Community Cultural Centre.

WHAT WE HEARD……

The key themes identified from the Forum and the following submissions:

Incorporation of Inviting Outdoor Spaces The incorporation of attractive, usable outdoor space is considered to be an essential element for the Precinct in keeping with our surrounding natural environment.

Economic Opportunities It is vital that we continue to give consideration to the many potential economic opportunities and the financial sustainability of the precinct.

History & Heritage The precinct development offers us an opportunity to recognise and share our municipalities rich history and heritage.

Architecture & Design Quality architecture and flexible, functional design is essential to ensure a diverse program can be achieved and utilisation maximised, incorporating a broad range of people and activity.

Connection to the Township It is important that there is visible connection within and to the township and its surrounds.

Another meeting will be held on 18 February at 3.30pm in the Council Chambers. Please RSVP by 11 February to 6269 0000.
