Flash flooding affects local roads
Kyogle Council News 15 Dec 2020

The recent rainfall, while welcome, has caused minor flooding in Kyogle and flash flooding across the Kyogle Local Government Area.

This has resulted in a number of flood affected roads and road closures. To keep up to date on the affected roads please use the MyRoadInfo website https://northernrivers.myroadinfo.com.au/default.asp .

Council staff will be updating the information on this website as changes to the current conditions are confirmed by Council staff in the field.

To all our residents that are out and about and are seeing impacts on the roads and bridges, please help us out by letting us know about it. If you have any information on roads or bridges affected by flood waters, please contact Council on 0266 321 611 to ensure that the information is accurately collated by Council staff.

Please do not rely on social media to get information to Council, we would appreciate if you could take the time to make the phone call and talk to our staff so they can ask you a few questions and make sure we have all the information we need to help out our crews in the field.

Council staff will be assessing the situation across the LGA and attending to issues and repairing damage in priority areas as resources allow.

During this time we ask all residents for patience and understanding as there are only so many things that Council and its contractors can do at one time.

The SES advice is that the flood level in the Kyogle township is expected to peak at around 12.6m, which means minor flooding that should not affect any residents or businesses, but those in low lying areas are asked to keep themselves informed of the flood advice coming from the SES, and to be ready to act if there is additional rainfall that could change these predictions.
