myDarwin Vouchers Relaunched

City of Darwin’s ultra-successful myDarwin discount voucher program is being relaunched with Council allocating $200,000 and the Northern Territory Government providing an additional $200,000 toward the program.

The myDarwin vouchers will be released in 2 rounds, on 9 December and 20 January respectively, with vouchers available from 12.01am on all those dates.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said he was delighted Council had again endorsed funding for myDarwin vouchers.

“Council has unanimously supported relaunching the myDarwin vouchers,” Lord Mayor Vatskalis said.

“While this means there will be no free parking in the CBD over Christmas and New Year, I believe the relaunch of the vouchers will be incredibly positive for local businesses, customers and the economy.”

“Previous rounds of the myDarwin vouchers saw a significant increase in customer spending – customers were not only buying a morning coffee they were ordering toasted sandwiches to go with it!”

“I’d like to thank the NT Government for their support in providing $200,000 so the program can be launched in January, at a time we know is traditionally very quiet for local businesses.”

The myDarwin initiative has had 5 separate rounds of funding since June, totalling $650,000, and with the multiplier effect this equates to an injection of more than $3.8M into the local economy.

“myDarwin is about supporting our local small businesses,” Lord Mayor Vatskalis concluded, “they are critical to a thriving economy.”

Terms and conditions have changed slightly, with spent vouchers redeemed every 48 hours, rather than 24. This small change will provide opportunities for more customers to utilise the myDarwin vouchers.

All businesses that accept the myDarwin vouchers must have a local shop front, have been operating at least 6 months, have a turn over less than $10M and operate in the retail, hospitality and tourism sectors.

Businesses can still register to be part of the myDarwin voucher program.

Customers will still receive $40 worth of myDarwin vouchers when they sign in and must accept the new terms and conditions.
