City congratulates Fremantle Business Award winners
City of Fremantle 23 Nov 2020

The City of Fremantle has congratulated Michael and Lucy Deller from Fremantle Tours for taking out the 2020 Fremantle Business of the Year Award.

In a year in which Fremantle businesses have been ravaged by COVID-19, the 2020 awards presented on Friday night attracted a record number of nominees and generated almost 1700 votes in the People’s Choice Award.

Fremantle Tours was named the Fremantle Ports 2020 Business of the Year, Old Bridge Cellars in North Fremantle took out the People’s Choice Award and South Beach Boardies was awarded the Business Foundations Growth Scholarship.

Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Danicia Quinlan said she was enormously proud of the passion, vision and hard work of the businesses highlighted through the awards.

“All of the submissions showed a strong sense of focus, willingness to take new risks and adapt to the new world we find ourselves in,” Ms Quinlan said.

“Strong themes around sense of place, environment and strengthening community ties were evident in all nominees this year.

“All of the nominee businesses are incredible in their own right, and not all made it into the list of finalists.

“I encourage everyone to investigate the businesses in our winners circle and nominees and find ways to continue to support our local business leaders and this exceptional talent that we have on our doorstep.”

Fremantle Tours also won the City of Fremantle sponsored Contribution to Fremantle Award, while the Mayor’s Award for Sustainable Enterprise went to EAW Consulting.

Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said the City was proud to be a major supporter of the awards.

“In a year that has challenged us all in so many different ways, I’ve been impressed with how local traders have adapted to these extraordinary circumstances and thrilled to see new enterprises opening up despite the world being in the grip of a global pandemic,” Mayor Pettitt said.

“The awards were a wonderful way to celebrate the resilience of the local business community and look forward to the better times that are undeniably ahead.”
